Navy Bean Soup Recipe
Our family has a huge love for this delicious navy bean soup. It is a simple
recipe, but it takes some time to prepare. Make a nice sized batch and it
will last for several days.
Here are the things you need:

1 Onion
1 lb. small white navy beans
1 Ham shank
1 stick of butter of margarine
Put the Ham Shank and beans into a 6 quart pot. Add water and fill to about
2" below the top of the pot. Heat on high until the pot comes to a boil, then
turn the heat down on low to simmer for 3 hours.
When you are about 1 hour away from completing the soup...
Chop Onion and add with butter to a frying pan. Heat on medium high, stirring
frequently for about twenty minutes, or until onion is reduced and translucent and browned. Add to soup pot and let simmer for about another half an hour.
